How to Use the PDF to Text
Upload any PDF document with selectable text. The browser-based text extraction engine parses each page, preserves structural line breaks, and allows you to copy the extracted text or export it as a .txt file. For scanned image documents without selectable text layers, OCR is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can this tool extract text from scanned documents or photos?
This tool extracts native selectable text layers embedded in PDF files. If your PDF is a scanned image or photograph without an OCR text layer, no text can be extracted. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is required for scanned documents.
Is there a limit on file size or page count?
To ensure smooth browser performance, large files up to 300 MB and 2,000 pages are supported with in-memory parsing. Processing may take several minutes for big files. You can also specify an exact page range to extract.
Does the formatting remain identical to the original PDF?
Text extraction pulls the raw characters and respects reading order and paragraph line breaks, but it does not reproduce fonts, colors, or complex multi-column visual layouts.
